SURF SEASONS IN LOS CABOS

Spring

March to May is considered a transition period, although May is the most constant month for the south swell, so it is not a bad option. However, in general the winds can be bad in these months, in addition to the fact that the swells are quite strong. The positive thing at this time the beaches are not very crowded.

Summer

June through August is the busiest season for surfing beaches in Baja California. Hurricane waves, known as squalls, can send a perfect wave from the southeast all the way to the crevices of the East Cape.

Of course, being hurricane season it is very important to be aware of any alert. The waves coming from the southern hemisphere offer from an impressive "beachbreak" to good "pointbreaks".

The weather is very hot so the waters are very warm, although the Pacific side is usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the Sea of Cortez side, so it is advisable to wear a wetsuit.

Autumn

September to November is one of the best times to surf in this destination, you can avoid all the summer and winter surfers and the swell from the south is still constant and the swell from the west is beginning to be felt.

Water temperatures start to drop, but are still much higher than Southern California.

Winter

December to February is the time when Los Cabos is most visited, so prices go up and it is very easy to find beginner and intermediate surfers. Here the winds usually come from the west and the water temperatures drop.
