CUITZEO
La Alberca de Los Espinos
This is a unique place as it is an extinct volcano that has a saltwater lake inside its crater surrounded by willows, ash trees and ahuhuetes, as well as orchids. There are four paths to go down to the lake and in the upper part there are viewpoints. It is located near La Piedad, one hour from Cuitzeo.

Monarch Butterfly Sanctuaries
Year after year, and after traveling nearly 4,000 km from southern Canada and the northern United States, thousands of monarch butterflies arrive in mid-November to the pine and oyamel forests in the sanctuaries of Senguio, Sierra Chincua and Ejido El Rosario.
To get to the sanctuaries and observe the beautiful butterflies up close, you have to walk through wooded trails and in some cases through steep stretches, so we suggest that if you are determined to do these tours you must have a good physical condition. This is an unforgettable experience.
MORELIA
Ichaqueo Waterfalls
It is an ecotourism center located in a wooded landscape and is very close to Morelia. It is a beautiful place with trails that you can explore to have a nice adventure. It is located 50 minutes from Morelia.
Los Azufres
This is a natural area that is known for its various hot springs.
It is an area with a beautiful wooded landscape where you can enjoy nature and relax in the hot springs with healing properties in one of the many parks in the area. It is located on the Cerro de San Andrés, one hour and 40 minutes from Morelia.

Laguna Larga Tourist Camp
This ecotourism center has thermal water pools with waters that reach up to 40ºC, camping area, restaurant, climbing wall and a zip line. It also offers interpretive trails for nature lovers. It is located an hour and a half from Morelia.
TACÁMBARO
Cerro Hueco Ecological Recreational Park
One of its greatest attractions is the viewpoint with an incredible panoramic view of Tierra Caliente.
In addition, you can also enjoy the view of a crater filled with water known as La Alberca (The Pool). It is the ideal place to walk along its trails, camping, mountain biking and horseback riding.
It has gazebos, children's games, basketball courts and a mini soccer field. It is located 2.5 km south of the Magical Town of Tacámbaro in the middle of a beautiful landscape of pine forest.
URUAPAN
La Tzaráracua
This is a site of one main 40-meter (131 ft) high waterfall, with multiple, smaller waterfalls. The Casacada is wonderful and the hike takes just about an hour so very easy with kids. It's mostly steps to go up and down, around 579 stairs, but the reward is seeing one of the most splendid natural wonders of Michoacán. It is located 20 minutes from Uruapan.
If you like to explore you can reach another waterfall known as the Tzararacuita with a height of 16 m (52 ft) in a beautiful path where you will learn more about the flora and fauna of the place.
Barranca del Cupatitzio National Park
It has 19 ha that offer beautiful trails for walking in the midst of exuberant vegetation, streams and natural and artificial waterfalls. It is located 15 minutes from Uruapan.
Chorros del Varal
The main attraction are some amazing waterfalls 70 m (230 ft) high and 100 m (328 ft) wide that are the result of an underground river. In addition to the walk in the middle of a beautiful forested landscape, you will have to descend 786 steps that take you to a viewpoint from where you can admire the waterfalls.
If you know how to swim well you can try to dive into the pools of the waterfall but with great caution. It is located only 20 minutes from the city of Los Reyes, within a protected area and one hour and 45 minutes from Uruapan.
Pantzingo Ecotourism Center
The ecotourism center is surrounded by a beautiful forest in the middle of the volcanic region. There are nice trails where you can learn more about all the flora and fauna of the region.
One of the main attractions is the Paricutín volcano with its crater and volcanic caldera. It is located in the community of San Juan Parangaricutiro, half an hour from Uruapan.
TZINTZUNTZAN
Pico de Tzirate
This is an option for those who are in good physical condition, as it is a trail of a little over 20 km that involves a steep ascent and is therefore it is not suitable for anyone. It is located in Quiroga, 17 minutes from the center of Tzintzuntzan.
ZIRAHUÉN
It has several lake border trails surrounded by a landscape of forests. On the tour it is easy to see bromeliads, orchids and many other flowers of different colors.
ZITÁCUARO
Camécuaro Lake National Park
It offers an incredible lake that is fed by natural springs surrounded by ancient junipers that give it a unique character.
You can tour the surroundings of the lake and learn a little more about the flora and fauna of the place. It is located 10 minutes from Zitácuaro and only 15 km southeast of Zamora.
