It is located on the eastern border of the state of San Luis Potosí, bordering the state of Tamaulipas, within the region known as Huasteca Potosina, encompassing parts of the municipalities of Ciudad Valles and Tamuin.
It is mainly composed of low deciduous forest and medium forest, with a great biological diversity. It is home to approximately 200 species of mammals, 2,200 arthropods, 50 amphibians, 94 reptiles, 11 fish, 110 mollusks, and 279 birds, of which 25 are endemic.
There are many extraordinary places to explore, such as Los Sabinos Cave, Sótano del Arroyo, and others where you can engage in various adventure sports.
