El Potosí National Park is located in the municipalities of Santa María del Río and Río Verde. It covers an area of two thousand hectares, mostly covered by pine and oak forests.
It has a wide variety of flora and fauna. There are 285 species of plants, 24 species of fungi, 17 species of reptiles, 4 species of amphibians, 195 species of birds, and 39 species of mammals. It is also a refuge for some migratory birds.
Throughout the park, you can observe a collection of elevations, steep canyons, and stacked conglomerates of rocks. Some of these rocks are of marine origin and date back to the Cenozoic and Mesozoic eras.
The park offers facilities for picnicking, and there are trails that run through oak and pine forests. We recommend visiting the natural viewpoints, from where you can contemplate unforgettable landscapes.
