It consists of 625.5 ha and covers the steepest and most spectacular part of the Barranca de Candameña, also known as the Barranca de las Cascadas, especially for the impressive waterfall that bears the same name. It has excellent trails and tourist services.
The park also includes forested landscapes of pine and oak, in its upper parts and numerous shrubs in its lower part.
In this park you can visit the two highest waterfalls in Mexico, Basaseachi, with a jump of 246 meters and Piedra Volada, with 453 meters of free fall.
The Basaseachi waterfall is accessed by a steep path of about 2 km.
It is the habitat of a great diversity of animals such as white-tailed deer, pumas, black bears, raccoons, skunks, squirrels and hares, among many others.
Another great attraction is the rock of El Gigante, considered the highest in the country.
In the park, there are camping areas and cabins.
The name of Basaseachi waterfall comes from an old legend that says that there was once a princess who fell into the river while walking through the forest. This is a pre-Hispanic legend and a can find out more about this beautiful story in your visit to this incredible place.
