CAPULÁLPAM DE MÉNDEZ
Cueva del Arroyo
It is located to the north of the Capulálpam de Méndez Magical Town and you have to walk a path in the middle of the forest to reach the cave. On the tour, you will be surprised by the rock formations and some of their inhabitants such as bats and spiders. Beside you will also learn about the historic role of this cave during the Cristero War.
HUAUTLA
In Huautla there is a system with very deep caves like Li Nita, which has been explored by experts to a depth of more than a thousand meters. It is considered the second deepest cave in Mexico with 1,475 m (4,839 ft) deep and 62 km long. It has large galleries and halls, as well as pools and waterfalls.
OAXACA
Grutas de Apoala
The caves has two large galleries and a lagoon whose depth is unknown until now. In both cavities there are beautiful natural formations of stalactites and stalagmites. According to those who have explored the place, it is advisable to do so only with the proper equipment and with an experienced guide. It is located a little over two hours from Oaxaca.

The Chevé System
It has 22.5 km of tunnels and galleries, and a drop of 1,386 m (4,547 ft) underground. Currently, the Cheve System ranks second among the deepest cave systems in the country, and ninth in the world. It has more than 90 vertical shots, underground streams, pools and waterfalls, making it a place that offers a great adventures. These caves are located 155 km north of Oaxaca.
Grutas de San Sebastián
It is a system of caves with several branches, of which only one has been explored, it can be visited with a specialized guide. The route covers about 450 or 500 m (1,476 to 1,640 ft), through five rooms of different heights, where there are impressive limestone formations. If you are in good physical condition you can rappel down to the underground river at a height of 20 m (65 ft). In the park there is a spring that contributes to the natural beauty of the place. Located two hours from the city of Oaxaca.
Grutas Lázaro Cárdenas
The caves are known in the region for their abundant variety of stalactite and stalagmite formations. To visit them, it is recommended to hire a guide in the town. It is located very close to the town of Santo Domingo Petapa, more than 5 hours from Oaxaca.
Grutas del Cerro de Yaguy
They are located very close to San Pablo Huixtepec, which in turn is located 40 minutes from the city of Oaxaca and 15 minutes from Mitla.
