The municipality has several cocoa plantations.

The municipality has several cocoa plantations where you can learn about cocoa cultivation and taste artisanal chocolate.

These places date back to colonial times and have been able to preserve their traditions and methods of chocolate production.

At Hacienda La Luz, located in Chontalpa, you can enjoy the tropical atmosphere amidst fruit trees and take guided tours of the plantation. The tours provide explanations about cocoa, its harvesting, cultivation methods, and the process of chocolate making. You can also visit the Cocoa Museum.

At Finca Cholula, you can witness an organic process amidst a great diversity of plants and animals, including howler monkeys. In this picturesque setting, you can also savor a typical regional menu.

Another attraction is the Comalcalco Archaeological Zone, the only Mayan city built with fired clay bricks. It also features a very interesting on-site museum.
