In the municipality of Ciudad del Maíz, the El Salto River forms an impressive waterfall with a height of 70 meters, known as El Salto. 

However, it is only possible to admire it occasionally during the rainy season, and if there has been abundant rainfall. You can also enjoy this beautiful spectacle during Holy Week when the hydroelectric plant it serves is undergoing maintenance.

Further downstream, there are other waterfalls of lesser height, highlighting the turquoise blue color of the pools.
