It is located within a mining district. It is home to a wealth of mineral resources that have been exploited for more than four centuries.
It is characterized by its arid landscapes. Right at the bottom of the ravine there is a mine framed by the steep walls with huge cliffs in which you can see the entrances of the different mines that have been exploited to extract mainly silver.
All those who want to explore the canyon should consider that dangerous to visit during the rainy season. It is a narrow ravine and the river flow can suddenly rise beside the inclination of the terrain makes it favorable to loose rock fragments from the slopes.
In the river bed if you are lucky you can find some semi-precious stones like amethyst quartz, pyrite, garnets and fire stone to mention a few.
