Totally off-the-beaten-path place where science cannot explain why radio waves are unable to penetrate this desolate desert area. The enigmatic name is worthy of an endless number of myths and it is due to the fact that radio waves cannot be transmitted in a normal way and this occurs only in some small áreas. The disruption is believed to be caused by subterranean deposits of magnetite, as well as debris from meteorites.

This area was once under the ancient Cretaceous Sea of Thetis, that is why here you can easily find a great variety of marine fossils.

The Zone that Coahuila shares with Durango and Chihuahua has been declared a Mapimi Biosphere Reserve.

This is a spectacular place for stargazing, you can appreciate a meteor shower, moving satellites and planets. The place registers frequent falls of meteorites.

Here you will find endemic species such as the desert tortoise, unique reptiles in the world, and there are abundant purplish nopales that owe their color to the layers that protect them from the sun's rays. In general, the flora and fauna of this region have undergone special adaptations that allow them to live in the adverse conditions of this arid region.

It is compared to the Bermuda Triangle, the Egyptian and Tibetan Pyramids, all located between the 26th and 28th parallels.
