It is a place characterized by its incredible natural landscapes.

This is because the Usumacinta River runs through the municipality, forming the islands of Montserrat and El Chinal.

In the area, you can also visit beautiful lagoons such as El Pital, La Sombra, Agostadero, Catorce Guanos, El Zapote, and Laguna Alegre, to name a few. This entire lake landscape offers the opportunity to enjoy nature and engage in activities such as swimming, sailing, and fishing.

In addition to the astonishing natural wonders, there is the El Cuyo archaeological site. The main mound was a pyramid in the ancient Mayan city of Xonuta. It has an on-site museum showcasing some of the artifacts found during excavations. Additionally, there is an observation deck accessed by a staircase where you can enjoy a panoramic view that includes the Usumacinta River and a large number of lagoons.

In the town, you can visit the "Omar Huerta Escalante" Archaeological Museum, which has two floors. One exhibits a collection of archaeological pieces from the region, while the other is dedicated to temporary exhibitions.
