It is located in the Bolsón de Mapimí and is one of the most mysterious regions of the country surrounded by many stories of inexplicable phenomena. Its fame began when an American missile landed in this area and the event was attributed to magnetic forces.
This region of the Durango desert forms an extension located just over 65 kilometers east of Ceballos within the Mapimí Biosphere Reserve and encompasses the confluence of Durango with the state limits of Coahuila and Chihuahua.
Marine fossils up to 60 million years old are testimony to the sea that existed between the Mesozoic and Cenozoic eras.
Until now, no theory has been verified as to why the unique phenomena that occur in the area. However, there are some peculiar data such as that in certain areas phenomena such as the non-propagation of hertzian waves are observed, in addition to the frequent fall of meteorites and that in this region there is a curious phenomenon that consists of the interference of electromagnetic waves. causing points of silence in radio signals.
Other of its peculiarities is that a strange purple cactus grows here and that the Mapimí tortoise is the largest in North America.
