Historians affirm that the pre-Hispanic ceremonial center of Coyohuacan was located here.

The square was part of the church of the Immaculate Conception, which is why a Baroque chapel from the 18th century is located in the center.

The original building was ordered to be built by Hernán Cortés himself, and it is presumed that the first mass in New Spain was celebrated in that chapel.

Today, it is a beautiful square with numerous tree-filled planters where you can transport yourself to the viceregal era.

Like all the squares in Coyoacán, it is surrounded by attractive buildings, and a few steps away, you can find restaurants and attractions such as the Elena Garro Cultural Center.
