It is an extensive area of forest that covers 529 ha. Inside the park is a Carmelite convent dating from the late 18th century. Like the one found in Mexico City (Desierto de los Leones), the word "desert" comes from the remoteness and solitude where these constructions were established.
Some rooms and the temple have been well preserved and can be visited. Inside the temple you can see the image of the Cristo de las Siete Suertes and it is famous in the region because numerous miracles have been attributed to this Christ.
It is a very pleasant place to take walks and enjoy a bit of history in the midst of beautiful landscapes that include natural viewpoints.
