With an area of 246,500 hectares, the park encompasses Cerro de la Silla, Huasteca, La Estanzuela, and Chipinque, and is located in the Sierra Madre Oriental.
Its name comes from the diverse mountains it comprises and has been described as "the most beautiful landscape in the world" due to its mountain ranges, impressive canyons, and waterfalls.
The park is home to around 120 species of birds and 22 species of mammals, including black bears, white-tailed deer, gray foxes, and pumas.
It is ideal for a wide range of recreational activities and for being in contact with nature.
The best months to visit are from May to August when the weather is not too cold.
In September and October, access to some canyons is prohibited due to river flooding.
