There are more than 250 species of birds registered in Quintana Roo.

The lagoons and around the archaeological zones, are some of the best places for birding. However, the top spot is Sacxán, located 6 km from Huay Pix, it has a small wooden tower located on a hill, an incredible viewpoint from where you can see part of the territory of Belize, the Hondo River, and a series of wetlands.

Among the birds that you can see in this area are: snail hawk, roseate spoonbill, yellow warbler, white-eyed vireo and storks, among others.
