Campeche

The Campeche jungle is home to approximately 489 species of birds, an authentic paradise for bird lovers.

Among the top places for birding are: Isla de Pájaros, Palizada, the protected natural area of Los Petenes and the Calakmul Biosphere Reserve, especially the Balam Kin area where you can find endemic species such as the flycatcher, the blue magpie and the dwarf woodpecker.

Among the most common species are: pygmy kingfisher, crested heron, ibis, flamingos, cranes, pelicans, egrets, cormorants and woodpeckers, to name a few.
