This beautiful park is located between Juárez Avenue and Hidalgo Avenue.
It is the oldest, busiest, and most traditional park in Mexico City, as it has been a favorite of its inhabitants since colonial times. The plaza was built in the mid-16th century.
It features quarry stone fountains, white marble sculptures, wrought-iron benches, and large trees. Its name comes from the poplar trees (álamos) that were originally planted there, which were later replaced by the ash trees (fresnos) that now dominate the area. In La Alameda, you can find the Hemiciclo a Juárez, a round marble rotunda, and a monument in black bronze dedicated to Beethoven.
Near La Alameda, you will find the Church of Santa Veracruz, built in 1526 and considered one of the most outstanding Baroque buildings in the city. To the west of the park, on Dr. Mora and Basilio Badillo streets, you will find the Virreinal Art Gallery.
Right in front of La Alameda, a beautiful and functional commercial plaza was built, offering various shops, cafes, and restaurants.
