It is a cenotaph that honors Benito Juárez.
Whose remains are located in the San Fernando Cemetery.
It dates back to 1910 when it was built by order of Porfirio Díaz to commemorate the centennial of Independence. It is the work of architect Guillermo de Heredia, and the sculptures made of Carrara marble are by Alesandro Lazzerini.
It has a clear neoclassical style with twelve Doric columns and golden urn-shaped finials at both ends.
In the center, at the top, there is a sculptural ensemble that includes Benito Juárez with a statue representing the Nation crowning him with laurels, while the other statue represents the Law.
On the column supporting these sculptures, there is a medallion with laurels and the inscription "To the Meritorious Benito Juárez. The Nation."
