MINERAL DE ANGANGUEO

Grutas de Tziranda (Grotto)

The caves are made of limestone rocks and you can see leaves, tree roots, and even fossilized marine coral. The caves have large halls, narrow passageways, underground rivers and capricious rock formations. Among the most outstanding are: the virgin, the cross of Simon and the bomb.

The tour takes around 30 minutes, as only one room is open to the public. It is located in Cd. Hidalgo, one hour from Mineral de Angangueo and 104 km from Morelia.

MORELIA

Huarimio Caves

These caves are known because of the various hand paintings on the walls, which is why in the area it is known as the Cave of the Painted Hands. These paintings have been compared with others found in Europe, especially in France and Spain. The caves are located in Huetamo, 210 km from Morelia, in the middle of the Huarimio ecological reserve, within the great Kuru-Huarimio canyon.
