It is the highest point of the Sierra Madre Oriental and the highest peak in Nuevo León, reaching an elevation of 3,710 meters above sea level.
Since the year 2000, it has been declared a Natural Protected Area and is a place for a wide variety of activities, including extreme sports.
This mountain is covered by extensive areas of pine forest that can reach up to 15 meters in height. Near the summit, there is an alpine meadow, a type of vegetation unique to the northeastern region of Mexico. Here, a large number of endemic species can be found. An aeronautical radar was built at the summit, which you can visit. Don't worry if you're not in very good physical condition, as you can reach it by car.
During autumn and winter, temperatures can drop below freezing, resulting in snowfall.
