A magnificent neoclassical-style theater, considered one of the most beautiful constructions in the country.

It was inaugurated in 1924 under the name "Teatro en Construcción" (Theater under Construction) and later renamed to honor the composer and concert pianist Ricardo Castro Herrera, who was from Durango.

Its facade is made of carved quarry stone and consists of two levels. The first level features a staircase leading to the three main entrances and two side entrances. The second level has a beautiful balcony with a stone balustrade.

The interior retains the French-inspired style of the era. The side walls feature murals depicting the history of the city, as well as a bust of Mozart and a bronze sculpture of composer Ricardo Castro.
