This is one of the most spectacular caves in Mexico, offering a mysterious and imposing landscape.
It is located in the heart of the Sierra de Zongolica and belongs to the mountain region.
El Sótano or Sumidero has an opening with a diameter of 45 meters, and the waterfall has a depth of over 70 meters, ending in a spectacular underground lake.
Therefore, to explore the cave, you will have to face the challenge of descending over 70 meters. However, the reward is immersing yourself in one of the largest networks of caves and caverns in the world.
As an additional attraction, the Popocatempa River enters in the form of a waterfall, creating an interior lake.
During the cave exploration, you can admire both the waterfall and the swifts entering and leaving their nests amid rainbows created by the falling water.
This cave can only be visited during the dry season and always with an experienced guide.
