With a depth of 1,546 meters, it is considered the deepest in the Americas and one of the longest caves in Mexico, stretching for 56 kilometers. The cave system in the Huautla de Jiménez region is considered one of the deepest in the world, surpassed only by the caves in Spain and France.

According to the Mazatec traditions, these caves belong to Chicón Nindó, or Lord of the Hills. That's why this place is full of fascinating stories, such as the belief that those who enter without permission may lose their souls.

The expedition is recommended only for professional spelunkers, as a significant part of the journey involves descending between waterfalls and small streams at various depths, requiring top-notch diving, lighting, communication, and other equipment.
