This is one of the most interesting rivers to explore. 

In the upper basin, you can observe impressive canyons with forest vegetation, and in the lower basin, you descend towards the sea. 

The "descabezadero" is where the river originates, and the water falls from an interesting formation of volcanic rocks and flows until it reaches the town of Actopan. It is one of the best places to take a walk in relatively calm waters.
