The park spans the states of Puebla and Tlaxcala. Within the park, you can find the Matlalcuéyetl or Malintzi volcano, which is the tallest in the state, standing at an altitude of 4,461 meters above sea level. It was declared a national park on 1938, and covers an area of 46,112 hectares.
Most of the park's surface is covered with coniferous forests, including pine, oak, grasslands, firs, and oyamel trees. It offers numerous campsites, ideal for relaxation and recreation.
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has a mountain lodge that provides accommodation, restaurant, mini-supermarket, handicraft shop, game room, playground, camping area, tent rental, multipurpose hall, parking, and sports fields.
There are panoramic canyons, valleys, and forested landscapes ideal for various activities.

Location
To reach the park, take Highway No. 136 to Huamantla. Then take a left turn and drive an additional 10 km to reach the park. Located approximately 31 km or a 45-minute drive from Huamantla.
