It has a diameter of approximately 50 meters, with clear, temperate water of an emerald green hue.
The site is surrounded by a wide plain with grass and wooded areas.
The lagoon is fed by a pair of sulfurous springs that local tradition attributes healing properties. However, swimming is not recommended due to the depth of the waters and the muddy bottom.

Location
Located in San Sebastián Tecomaxtlahuaca, 171 km from Teposcolula and 272 kilometers from Oaxaca via Highway 131-D to Nochixtlán. The lagoon is on the outskirts of the town, along the road towards Huajuapan.
