It is an artificial lake built almost 500 years ago by Fray Diego de Chavez. It Is the first hydraulic works in New Spain in order to have water to irrigate the agricultural fields.
Currently, it has become a beautiful and placid place where you can appreciate nature and the various birds that have adopted the lagoon as their home.
It is one of the most recommended places in Guanajuato for a boat ride, in addition to the fact that from the lake you have an excellent view of the impressive San Agustín Convent.
