This lagoon is located on the northern coast of Veracruz. It has a length of 85 km and is not very deep.
Approximately half of the lagoon is bordered by mangroves, and there are also several internal islands, including El Ídolo Island, El Toro Island, and Juan A. Ramírez Island, which is the largest of the three.
Shrimp and oyster farming takes place in the lagoon. Moreover, you can find a large quantity of clams and crabs in this body of water. That's why in the town with the same name as the lagoon, you can savor delicious dishes made with fresh seafood.
Inside the lagoon, you'll find Barra de Corazones, a beach with fine sand, moderate waves, and transparent waters. Here, you can rent boats to tour the lagoon, including its islands and mangroves.
