This beautiful lagoon has a length of 17 kilometers and in total occupies about 72 square km. It is surrounded by lush vegetation and mangroves. Inside the lagoon there are two islands: Los Pájaros and La Montosa, home of hundreds of local and migratory birds.

Along the laguna hay más de 250 especies de aves y 14 especies de peces comestibles. Por su atractivo natural, aquí han sido filmadas varias películas, entre ellas Rambo II.
