It covers an area of approximately 108 square kilometers, making it the third largest body of water in the country.

Within the lagoon, there are several volcanic islands, as thousands of years ago, volcanic eruptions blocked the valley, creating a lake at 340 meters above sea level. Currently, the lake is fed by streams descending from the Sierra de San Martín. ya que hace miles de años diversas erupciones volcánicas bloquearon el valle creado un lago a 340 msnm. Catemaco is also known as the birthplace of sorcerers, so besides practicing water sports and enjoying the contact with nature, you can take the opportunity to receive a spiritual cleansing and discover what the future holds for you.
