San Pedro Martir is located in the center of the Gulf of California and is the most isolated island in the gulf, situated 51 km from the Baja California peninsula and 60 km from Bahia de Kino.
The island measures 2 km in length and has a maximum width of 1.5 km, with a total surface area of 2,729 square kilometers.
In 2005, the island, along with 244 others, was classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO and included in the islands and protected areas of the Gulf of California.
Within its rugged terrain, you can find an extensive forest of towering cardon cacti.
Whales, dolphins, turtles, and a large number of sea lions can be observed along its coasts, particularly during the winter.
At the southeastern tip of the island, there are two islets, and the coasts of these formations are highly recommended for diving and snorkeling due to their calm waters.
