It is part of the Veracruz Coral Reef System National Marine Park. Parque Marino Nacional Sistema Arrecifal Veracruzano.
It is an island located in the Gulf of Mexico near the Port of Veracruz.
The island measures about 450 m in length and 198 m in width. cerca de 450 m de largo y 198 m de ancho.
Used since pre-Hispanic times for religious ceremonies, burials, pre-Hispanic figurines, vases, and remnants of Totonac pyramidal foundations have been found here.igurillas prehispánicas, vasos y restos de basamentos piramidales totonacas.
Access to the island is highly restricted to the general public, so there are only boat tours that pass near the island. Alternatively, if you wish, you can approach it by kayak and once you reach the surrounding reefs, you can go snorkeling.
