For the natives, it is known as Yavi Ko Maa, which means "snake cave" in Mixtec, the same name found in the codices of ancient Mixteca.
The interior consists of two spacious galleries, 35 and 40 meters in height. The lower one is notable because as you walk among large rocks and mounds, you reach a large lagoon of unknown depth, from which the waters are said to emerge in the springs of Tamazulapan.
The "Archbishop's Stone" stands out, which resembles a bishop's mitre. “Piedra del Arzobispo”, una estalagmita que semeja la forma de mitra de obispo.
We suggest requesting the assistance of a guide in the town.
