The cave is located on an island connected to El Maviri Beach by a bridge, which in turn is connected to Topolobampo and Los Mochis by a road.

The cave has become a natural sanctuary where thousands of bats inhabit from April to October. 

The incredible spectacle is watching a huge cloud of bats emerge at sunset as they head towards their feeding sites. They form large moving clouds in the wind, creating a unique sound.
