The waters of the Zahuapan River create this extraordinary waterfall. Atlihuetzía means "place where the water falls" in Nahuatl, a name that suits it well, as it features a beautiful 30-meter high waterfall surrounded by abundant vegetation, ending in a small lagoon.

Near the waterfall, there is a tall cliff displaying ancient rock paintings from Amaxac.

On top of the gorge, there is a hotel that offers a magnificent panoramic view of the waterfall.

This is a place full of legends, as it is said that chanes or goblins inhabit the waterfall and often play tricks. It is even said that years ago, Matlacueyatl and his beautiful daughter Atlihuetzia lived in the nearby mountain, and she enjoyed bathing in the beautiful waterfall.

Despite her father's warnings, Atlihuetzia continued to visit the waterfall until she never returned, and her father understood that the chanes had taken her away.

Currently, many locals claim to have seen the chanes and the beautiful young woman.
