Natural monument that rises above the coastal plain of southern Tamaulipas at 1,116 meters above sea level and has a base diameter of 6 to 7 km. Due to its size and the fact that it rises isolated on a large plain, it can be easily seen from the Mante-Tampico highway.
This elevation is covered by a dense forest, and its enormous stone walls offer a regular slope, so it won't be too difficult to reach the summit, and you don't need any mountaineering equipment. However, although there are signs, it's very important to be accompanied by a guide to avoid getting lost in the dense jungle vegetation.
Additionally, you can inquire about its myths and legends, which include a story about a cave that holds a treasure of gold and jewels, as it is said that thieves hid treasures during the times of the revolution.
The ascent takes approximately five hours, and the descent takes a similar amount of time, so you need to take into account that it will take almost the entire day to complete this adventure.
It is represented in the coat of arms of Tamaulipas, so it is considered an icon of the state.
