It has a diameter of 1.5 km and is the dome of a prehistoric volcano at an altitude of 2752 meters above sea level. It is situated in a place with a pleasant natural environment where you'll find pine forests and some maguey plants.  

It is located very close to Los Humeros, an area with noticeable geothermal activity where some locals use the hot springs for steam baths.
