It's located within the San Juan Mountains and is a volcanic formation that rises to an altitude of 2,080 meters above sea level. Its main vegetation consists of pine and oak trees, mixed with some areas of jungle.
It has become an icon of the city of Tepic, and along the ascent, there are several viewpoints that offer spectacular views of the city. In the middle part of San Juan Hill, there is a place called "La Batea," a flat area where visitors can camp. Horseback riding is also available for part of the ascent.
