It was founded in 1711 as the seminary college of San Pedro.
It was closed in 1748 and in 1751, it became the birthplace of the Conciliar Seminary of San Ildefonso. In 1767, the university disappeared due to the expulsion decree of the Jesuits, promulgated by Carlos III.
During the reign of Maximilian, the building served as the imperial commissariat.
At the beginning of this century, Felipe Carrillo Puerto founded the university, and the building was remodeled.
