Templo de Santa María Guadalupe

This space was occupied by the first hermitage founded in Toluca by the Franciscan missionaries.

In 1676, the temple passed into the hands of the Juaninos, and an annexed hospital was built. At that time, it was known as the Church of San Juan de Dios.

As a result of the Reform Laws, the convent and hospital grounds were divided and sold, and on one of those plots, the Supreme Court of Justice was built, which was demolished in 1968.

The church has an indigenous plateresque style with a facade composed of three levels and richly adorned with all kinds of vegetal and geometric motifs.

Inside, the decoration is simple, and the main altar mural stands out, featuring a beautiful image of the Virgin of Guadalupe.
