This temple was built in 1615.

This temple was built in 1615 by the Juaninos order, who also built a hospital on adjacent land.

During the independence movements, two monks residing in this convent, Friar Luis Herrera and Friar Juan Villanías, were active participants in the movement.

Later on, the hospital continued its functions but only for military purposes, and it eventually became a school. In the early 20th century, it was completely renovated in a clear Neoclassical style and now houses the Federico Silva Museum, which exhibits contemporary sculptures.

During the colonial era, it housed important and expensive ornaments and lamps.

Its facade is simple, made of masonry, contrasting with its interior, which boasts a beautiful main altarpiece.

There is a magnificent mural by Fernando Leal, created in 1945, decorating the main nave.

There is a pleasant square in front of the temple.
