The mountain range is located in the Sierra Madre Occidental. This protected area covers a total of 184,734 hectares, including canyons, valleys, mountains, sand dunes, plains, and many sierras. Additionally, güerigo, maple, and poplar forests beautify the Sierra. 

Regarding fauna, there are 93 varieties of mammals, including bighorn and whitetail deer, collared peccaries, pronghorns, and pumas. The Sierra is also home to 230 bird species and 62 reptile species, including desert tortoises, mud turtles, Gila monsters, and abundant chameleons.

This reserve also has archaeological and mission remains of Father Kino in Fronteras, Cuquiaráchic, and Cocósfera, as well as old mining centers such as Cananea and Nacozari.

This beautiful natural area can be accessed via roads and rural paths.
