The Flora and Fauna Protection Area spans 93,000 hectares and covers 14% of the municipality of Alamos. It is considered one of the most beautiful natural spaces in the state.
The Alamos Mountain Range encompasses various types of climate, soil, geological formations, vegetation, and topography, resulting in a wide variety of habitats and beautiful landscapes.
This area is home to approximately 120 species of butterflies, over 200 species of birds, and nearly 500 species of vertebrates.
Among the inhabitants of the area, you can find scorpions, boas, mountain lizards, pumas, ocelots, jaguars, Gila monsters, and the cinnamon cuckoo bird.
The best months to visit this area are November and December when the weather is cooler and there is more greenery.
If you enjoy fishing, you can visit the Mocuzari Dam.
