One of the largest rivers in Tamaulipas, with its source at a point called "Paso de los Duraznos" between the mountain ranges that form the Palmillas Valley.
Along the river, there are several natural pools: "La Peñita," "La Presa," "Panza de Vaca," "El Sauzal," and "La Peñita," the last mentioned is the most well-known where you can practice kayaking and canoeing.
There is a section of the river that offers rapids, which are a challenge for adventure seekers.
If you prefer something calmer, you can enjoy the landscapes offered by the river on a colorful and traditional trajinera.
