The highest elevation in the state of Michoacán is located within the park, the Pico de Tancítaro, with 3850 meters above sea level.
It is a national park that has 29,316 hectares that includes large oak forests and ravines, in its lower parts, pine forests in its middle áreas, and oyameles in the most humid areas, giving a great variety of landscapes that invite you to take long walks enjoying the colors and shapes of its numerous ravines and impressive slopes.
Due to its size and rugged terrain, you can find a sample of the typical fauna of the mountainous region, such as armadillos, squirrels, foxes, hares, white-tailed deer and a wide variety of songbirds that will delight you with their songs at sunset.
