It has 1,866 hectares of beautiful forests, habitat for more than one hundred species of birds, 30 mammals, 7 species of amphibians and 9 reptiles.
The Former Convent of Desierto de los Leones is a beautiful monastery built by the order of Discalced Carmelites in the 17th century, which is currently surrounded by beautiful flower gardens. It preserves the cells, oratories, the church and underground tunnels that can be explored through guided tours. The Chapel of Secrets, which due to the construction of its dome, is distinguished by its magnificent acoustic conditions. Events such as concerts, exhibitions, weddings, etc. are held here.
It has a restaurant and the Bicentennial Museum, where you can see cultural and artistic exhibitions. Hours: Tuesday-Sunday: 9:00-17:00 hrs.
Oyamel, ash and oak trees abound within the wooded vegetation and it is an ideal place for sports activities such as walking or mountain biking amid its pleasant trails. You can also camp within this beautiful natural environment.
On the outskirts of the enclosure there are tables for picnics, grills and children's games. In addition, you can enjoy a wide variety of Mexican food and handicrafts.
Due to its beautiful natural setting, it is the venue for various sporting and cultural events.
