Located on a small promontory of volcanic origin and has an approximate area of 200 hectares. Inside the park there are petroglyphs, a shrine and archaeological remains from the pre-Hispanic era.
This was a sacred place for the various peoples who settled in the Valley of Mexico, and it was here where the New Fire ceremony was held. The ritual was carried out every 52 years, and images and cult objects were thrown into the fire to prevent the death of the sun.
Within the Cerro de la Estrella National Park, there is a group of very unique caves, including "La cueva del diablo" (Devil's Cave), with a depth of about 300 meters.
The park has a viewpoint with an impressive panoramic view of the city and facilities for picnics.
