It was built in 1735 with two floors, corridors, and arcades.
This place was used as a grain exchange and jail.
In 1871, the first clock in the city of Mérida was installed here. Over time, it has undergone several changes. The tower was built in 1928, and the stone porch of the main entrance belonged to a colonial house and was installed in the Municipal Palace in 1949.
In the council chamber, you can admire a fresco painting that represents an allegory of mestizaje.
