Its name derives from the dark patches seen through the water, which are beautiful coral reefs located 9 to 12 meters (30 to 40 ft.) below the surface, with dimensions of 12 km long by 700 wide.
This place, filled with beautiful coral landscapes, is where the famous Cross of the Bay is housed, a 3-meter-tall bronze crucifix with the figure of Christ outlined. Additionally, it hosts a part of the amazing Underwater Museum of Art. It is a true paradise for underwater photographers.
This is the best place for divers of all levels and one of the favorite places to visit and explore the marvelous Caribbean Sea.
In one of these reefs, there is a 3-meter-tall bronze crucifix with the figure of Christ outlined, as well as a series of sculptures that are part of the Underwater Museum of Art.
